Rhoda Karpatkin

I married Marvin Karpatkin, '49, a B.C. activist and a leader on Vangaurd . We both graduated from Yale Law School, and eventually practiced law together. Our firm did considerable civil rights, civil liberties and education work. I became president of the Consumers Union (publisher of Consumer Reports ) in 1974, and retired after 27 years. Since then, I've continued to represent Consumers Union on trade and globalization issues. I serve on the Boards of the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy, and the Yale Law School Association. I also serve on the Government Trade and Enviromental Policy Advisory Committee, and on advisory boards of the National Board of Medical Examiners, Human Rights Watch Children's Rights Division, and Channel 13.

My three children are all in their 40s, happily married, and have, among them, 9 children.

I enjoy both generations a lot.
